The Greater Halifax Arts Coalition (GHAC) builds awareness of, participation in and support for arts and cultural activities in Kjipuktuk/Halifax.
We are professional arts organizations that engage and employ professional artists, in part through public project and/or operating funding. We are highly skilled professionals recognized by our peers. Our artistic work has a vital impact on Halifax’s culture and communities. We imagine a vibrant Halifax rooted in a thriving and interconnected arts milieu where citizens engage with pride in diverse cultural offerings. We envision partnerships across sectors and government to nourish creativity and resilience, and to build an equitable, accessible, and just future. We envision a society that places a high value on a vital arts and cultural and heritage sector for the health and well-being of all. Our work helps Halifax not only find solutions to the big challenges of our time, but also provides moments of ease and respite from those challenges.
